From a Dream…
I am in a room with other professionals, we have convened because of a youth who acted out in inappropriate ways with children. I give my report to this small group. A Judge, a male who made little eye contact towards where I sat, made a comment to the others, not to me, but about me. It seems as though an entire profession has come alive to handle ordinary behaviors. This is meant to demean and minimize the results of the report. I am alarmed, defensive, then angry but say nothing. As I wake, I think; That is how it works everywhere, in everything. There is a need and then a solution. A man robs a bank and there is soon a law which gives meaning to the behavior of robbing a bank. It imprinted value of, and on the behavior. The law must be spoken so there becomes lawyers and Judges. I felt in this dream the need to defend my report, my conclusions and recommendations. My existence as a professional.
